Entry#4- Balancing Professional Communication in a Digital World

As we all know today's world is heavily based around technology. So much so, that Robots and other machines are used around the world to either replace or help humans navigate through life. So how do we as a species utilize this new technology to our advantage? And how do we manage a professional appearance online, while also using technology for leisure?
It is a common fact that when writing to an authority figure, potential or existing, there needs to be a level of professionalism that exists in a persons writing habits. Just as they are here in this blog. Many habits that would showcase comfortability, anger, discontentment, excitement, or sadness have to be reconciled and monetized. This can be difficult to find the write wording that conveys the correct points, while also connecting the the writers unique voice. This is also difficult to achieve since writing professionally can sometimes come across in manners in which they were not intended to.
Some examples of miscommunication often stem from tone of voice, incorrect wording, abbreviations, and even unknown terms or topics. All of these and more lead to ineffective communication in a professional setting. So what are some ways to combat these issues in today's world?

1- Use Clear Language
- laugh out loud (lol), I don't know (idk), I don't care (idc), what are you doing (wyd), and talk to you later (ttyl). All of the normal relaxed abbreviations should be typed all the way out if and when they are being appropriately used.
2- Acknowledge and know your audience
- Take into account who you are talking to. Whether it be a coworker, a boss, potential employer, or even a teacher. Knowing who you are talking to is always a good indicator of how you should approach your communications with these people.
3- Be Authentic
- While it may be hard in certain situations to hold back personal feelings, being able to rationalize your thoughts while still maintain the key points as well as your true tone are going to be beneficial to effectively communicate in a digital world.
-Use natural tone and language while finding a way to incorporate it without being overly informal.
4- Seeing it in practice
-Thanks to technology there are many companies and individuals who post advice on how to communicate effectively for free. One individual that sticks out is a woman commonly known as @advicewithErin or just Erin.
